Subgrove vs Tilla: Android Tracker or Web App?

Tilla is the cheaper choice for one person on one Android phone: a capped free version and a $4.99 one-time Premium unlock. Subgrove makes more sense once an iPhone, a laptop or a second person needs the same list. Neither reads your bank account, so this is a choice about platforms, sync and price model rather than privacy.

What Tilla does well
Tilla Premium is a separate app on Google Play listed at $4.99, and the developer's FAQ describes it as a one-time purchase tied to your Google account, so it carries over to a new phone. Premium removes the subscription limit and adds analytics, cloud sync, local backups, colour themes and dark mode. The free app's listing promises that Premium unlocks an "unlimited count of subscriptions", which tells you the free version is capped; reviewers on the listing mention five.
The app is actively maintained. Its Play listing showed an update on 29 September 2026, a 4.5-star rating from about 950 reviews and more than 50,000 downloads, and the developer, Pavlo Rekun, replies to reviews there. For an Android-only user who wants to spend $4.99 once, that is hard to argue with: it's the price of a single month of Subgrove Pro.
Where Tilla's design runs out
Tilla is built for one Android phone and one person. Subgrove is built for the cases that falls outside:
- An iPhone in the household. Tilla requires Android, and there's no iOS or web version. Subgrove installs from the browser, so the same list opens on iPhone and Android and on a desktop.
- Shared bills. Tilla has no way to share a list with someone else. Subgrove Pro lets you invite family, mark subscriptions as shared and split the cost; invited members can stay on the free plan. More on splitting shared subscriptions.
- Sync without your own cloud storage. Tilla's sync runs through your own Google Drive or Dropbox and needs Premium. Subgrove keeps the list in your account, on the free plan too.
- Reminders and phone makers. Tilla's FAQ says battery "optimizations" on some OPPO, Xiaomi, OnePlus and other devices can stop its reminders, and points users to dontkillmyapp.com to fix it. Subgrove sends push and email reminders from its servers, so the email arrives even if the phone blocks the push.
- Renewals on a calendar. Subgrove has a month calendar view as well as the list.
Paying once versus paying yearly
Over three years, Tilla Premium costs $4.99 in total and Subgrove Pro on the yearly plan costs $117. If you have five or fewer subscriptions, Subgrove costs nothing at all, since reminders, totals and the calendar are on the free plan. If you have more than five and live on one Android phone, Tilla is the better deal by a wide margin. Subgrove has no one-time or lifetime plan.
How to decide
- Pick Tilla if you're Android-only, tracking for yourself, and happy to pay $4.99 once.
- Pick Subgrove if an iPhone, a partner or a desktop needs the same list, or you'd rather not set up Google Drive or Dropbox sync yourself.
