Bobby is the better pick if everyone who needs the list uses Apple devices and you want to pay once; Subgrove fits when an Android phone, a Windows laptop or a second person is involved. Both are manual trackers that never ask for your bank login, so the choice comes down to devices, price model and how you want currencies handled.

Why Bobby is hard to beat on an iPhone
Bobby's App Store listing shows a free download with one-time in-app purchases: $0.99 to lift the subscription limit, or $2.99 for the all-in-one pack. There is no recurring fee. Subgrove Pro costs more than that in its first month, so on price alone Bobby wins for anyone who needs more than five subscriptions.
It is also a well-loved native app: 4.7 out of 5 from roughly 8,000 ratings on the US store, made by the studio Yummygum, with iCloud sync across your Apple devices. The listing now says "Only for iPhone": there's no iPad version, and Macs with an M1 chip or later run the iPhone app, which Apple marks "Not verified for macOS." If you're the only person tracking these subscriptions and every device you'd check them on has an Apple logo, Bobby is probably the right answer.
Where an Apple-only app stops working
Bobby's website links to the App Store and nowhere else. There is no Google Play version and no web version, so the list can't follow you, or anyone else, off Apple hardware. That is the gap Subgrove covers:
- An Android phone in the house. Subgrove installs from the browser, so the same list opens on iPhone and Android and on a Windows or Linux desktop.
- Bills two people pay. The family streaming plan and shared cloud storage need a list both of you can see. Subgrove Pro has household sharing: invite family, mark a subscription as shared, split its cost. Invited members can stay on the free plan.
- Switching phone platforms. iCloud sync means a new iPhone keeps your Bobby list; moving to Android does not. Subgrove's list lives in your account, so the phone brand doesn't matter.
- A calendar of renewal dates. Subgrove shows renewals on a month calendar as well as a list, which makes clustered charges easy to spot.
Currency handling works differently
This one isn't a win for either side; it's a preference. Bobby converts foreign-currency subscriptions with exchange rates so you get one figure. Subgrove keeps every currency separate: your USD subscriptions total in USD, your EUR ones in EUR, with no conversion. You see exactly what each card will be charged, but you don't get a single combined number. If you want one converted total, Bobby does that and Subgrove doesn't.
What Subgrove's free plan covers
Five subscriptions, push and email reminders before every renewal, monthly and yearly totals, the renewals calendar, a weekly digest, and offline use, with no card required. Past five, Pro is $4.99 a month or $39 a year, billed in USD. It adds unlimited subscriptions, household sharing, free-trial cancel-by alerts, price-increase alerts and CSV export. There is no one-time or lifetime option, so if paying once is the point, Bobby is the better fit.
Which one to install
- Bobby: you're on Apple devices only, tracking for yourself, and want to pay a dollar or three once.
