No bank link
Track subscriptions without linking your bank
Subgrove is a subscription tracker that never connects to your bank account. You add each subscription yourself and it reminds you before every renewal: no bank login, no Plaid, nothing reading your transactions.
No card required. Works on iPhone, Android and desktop.
Why use a subscription tracker with no bank connection
Most subscription apps start by asking you to connect your bank. Behind that button is usually a data aggregator such as Plaid, which signs in to your bank on the app's behalf and pulls your transaction history. To find a dozen recurring charges, it reads everything else as well.
- The access is broad. An aggregator can't hand over only the subscriptions. Rent, groceries and pharmacy runs come with them.
- The access is ongoing. The connection stays live so the app can keep syncing, often long after you've stopped opening it.
- It depends on where you bank. A bank link only works if the aggregator supports your bank. Rocket Money, for example, only works with US banks.
- It breaks. Connections drop and ask you to sign in again whenever a bank changes its systems.
A private subscription tracker skips all of that. There's no bank credential to leak because none is collected, and no transaction feed to analyse or monetise because the app never sees one. The only data is the list you typed in.

Every plan handles 38 currencies, with totals shown per currency rather than converted, which is why people paying in more than one currency use it. Pro is for the jobs a bank feed can't do anyway: sharing one list with your household, a cancel-by alert before a free trial charges, and an alert when a service you track raises its price. How to track subscriptions without a bank login
- Make the list once.If you can't remember everything, paste or upload two or three months of a bank statement into the subscription finder. It picks out the recurring payments in your browser, and nothing is uploaded. The guide to finding all your subscriptions covers App Store, Google Play and PayPal charges too.
- Add each subscription. Name, price, currency, billing cycle and next renewal date, about 15 seconds each. Weekly, monthly, yearly and custom cycles all roll up into a true monthly and yearly cost.
- Pick your reminder. Push or email, on the day or up to two weeks before, set per subscription.
After that, a manual subscription tracker asks for a few seconds when you sign up for something or cancel it. Subscriptions are few and their prices change rarely, so the list stays accurate without a feed. And the list is what most people are missing: in a C+R Research survey, people guessed they spent $86 a month on subscriptions and actually spent $219.
What you give up
- No automatic detection.A new subscription isn't in Subgrove until you add it. The statement finder helps with the first sweep, not every month after.
- No spending overview. Subgrove tracks recurring payments only. If you want every transaction categorised, a bank-linked budgeting app does that job better.
- It doesn't cancel for you.The reminder gets you there before the charge; the cancelling is yours. Here's what actually cancels for you and where.
Questions
- Does Subgrove use Plaid or any other bank connection?
- No. Subgrove has no bank integration of any kind: no Plaid, no open-banking consent, no stored bank login. If you use the statement finder, it reads the file you choose inside your own browser and nothing is uploaded.
- Is there a free subscription tracker with no bank account needed?
- Yes. Subgrove's free plan tracks up to 5 subscriptions with push and email reminders before every renewal, and needs no card. Pro is $4.99 a month or $39 a year for unlimited subscriptions, household sharing, free-trial and price-increase alerts, and CSV export.
- What does Subgrove store about me?
- Your account email and the subscriptions you enter: name, price, currency, billing cycle, dates and any notes. It never sees your bank or card accounts. The list syncs to your account so it's on every device, and it works offline.
- Does it work outside the US?
- Yes, in any country. Bank-linked apps only work where their aggregator supports your bank; a list you type in has nothing to check, and every subscription can be in any of 38 currencies.
- Can I use it on iPhone and Android?
- Yes. Subgrove is a web app that installs to the home screen on iPhone, Android and desktop, so a mixed-device household can share one list.
