The subscription tracker Chrome extension that catches free trials

When you sign up for Netflix, Spotify, Disney+ or another popular service, Subgrove's extension offers to track it in one click, and if it's a free trial, reminds you before the first charge. No bank login, nothing typed in.

On a streaming service's plan page, the Subgrove extension offers to remind you before the 7-day free trial ends

How the free trial reminder works

  1. Step 1

    Sign up as usual

On a supported service's sign-up or plan page, a small Subgrove card appears in the corner. Nothing else on the page changes.

  2. Step 2

    One click

Choose "Remind me before the trial ends" or "Track it as a paid subscription". Subgrove opens with the service, your local price and the first charge date filled in.

  3. Step 3

    Get reminded

A push notification and email arrive before the charge, so you decide whether to keep it before you pay, not after.

Subgrove's add form opened by the extension, with the name, price and first charge date filled in

Private by design

  • Only sign-up pages. It runs on the services listed here and shows only on their sign-up, plan and checkout pages.
  • Reads one thing. It looks for a free-trial length on that page. No history, no other sites.
  • Sends nothing. No tracking or analytics inside the extension; clicking a button just opens subgrove.com.
  • No bank login, ever. Subgrove never connects to your bank or card. Privacy policy

Questions

Is the Subgrove extension free?

Yes. The extension is free, and so is Subgrove for up to 5 subscriptions with renewal reminders by push and email. Pro adds unlimited subscriptions, free-trial cancel-by alerts, price-increase alerts and household sharing.

Does it read my browsing or my bank?

No. It only runs on the sign-up and plan pages of the services listed on this page, and only reads those pages to spot a free-trial length such as "7-day free trial". It has no access to other sites, keeps no history, and sends nothing to us until you click one of its buttons. Subgrove never connects to a bank.

How does the free trial reminder work?

When a sign-up page advertises an N-day free trial, the extension offers "Remind me before the trial ends". Subgrove opens with the service, its price in your country and the first charge date already filled in, so you're reminded before that date. On Pro you also get a cancel-by alert the day before.

Does it work in Edge, Firefox or Safari?

It works in Chrome, and in Microsoft Edge, which can install extensions from the Chrome Web Store (Edge asks you to allow extensions from other stores the first time). Firefox and Safari versions aren't available yet; in any browser you can still add subscriptions on subgrove.com.

Does it work on my phone?

Mobile browsers don't run extensions. On a phone, install Subgrove from the browser (Add to Home Screen) and add subscriptions there; reminders arrive as push notifications.
