Bills · a Pro feature

A bill tracker app that reminds you before anything is late

Subgrove is a bill tracker app for rent, utilities, insurance and anything else with a due date. It alerts you before each bill, on the day and again if it goes overdue, with no bank login. You mark each bill paid and keep the record. Subgrove never pays anything for you.

Start tracking bills for $39 a year

Or $4.99 a month. 14-day money-back guarantee. Works on iPhone, Android and desktop.

What this bill reminder app does

  • One place for your bills. Rent, mortgage, electricity, gas, water, internet, phone, insurance, car payments and credit cards get their own section, separate from your subscriptions, with their own monthly total.
  • Alerts built for bills.Choose how far ahead each bill warns you, from the due date up to two weeks before. You can also get a second alert on the day and one if it's overdue, by push, email or both.
  • Know what's been paid.Mark a bill paid and it moves to its next due date. If you don't, it stays overdue instead of quietly rolling forward, which is where a calendar reminder falls short.
  • Amounts that change. Enter what your electricity bill really came to, and that becomes the estimate for the next one. Your payment record shows what you paid for each due date.
  • Share a bill as an image.Make a clean bill card for WhatsApp or social media, with each person's share worked out or the amounts hidden. It's drawn on your device, so nothing is uploaded to make it.

Track bills without a bank login

You type each bill in once. There's no bank connection to set up, nothing reading your transactions, and no card details to hand over. That also means it works in any country and with any bank, which is why people outside the US often look for a tracker with no bank link. Don't put card numbers or passwords in a bill's notes. The list doesn't need them.

How to set it up

  1. Add each bill. Pick a starter like Rent or Electricity, then enter the amount, how often it repeats and the next due date.
  2. Say how it gets paid. Mark anything on autopay as paid automatically, so only the bills you pay yourself can show as overdue.
  3. Choose your alerts. Bill notifications have their own settings, so changing them leaves your subscription reminders alone.

What you give up

  • It won't find bills for you.A bill isn't tracked until you add it, and it can't see whether a payment really went through. A bank-linked app can do both, if you're comfortable connecting your account.
  • It can't pay anything. If you want one app that sends the money too, use your bank's bill pay.
  • It isn't a budget.Subgrove tracks recurring costs, not everyday spending, so it won't replace a budgeting app.
  • Bills can't be shared yet. Couples and housemates each keep their own list for now.

Questions

Does Subgrove pay my bills?
No. Subgrove reminds you and keeps a record, and you pay each bill the way you normally do. It never moves money and has no access to your bank. “Paid” means you marked it paid.
Is there a free version of the bill tracker?
No. Bill tracking is part of Pro, at $4.99 a month or $39 a year, with a 14-day money-back guarantee. Subgrove's free plan covers subscription tracking only, up to 5 subscriptions.
What happens if a bill amount changes every month?
Turn on “Amount changes each time”. The bill shows as an estimate, you enter the real amount when you mark it paid, and that becomes the estimate for next time. It suits electricity, gas and water.
What if a bill is paid automatically?
Turn on “Paid automatically”. You still get an alert so you can check the money is there, but the bill moves to its next date by itself and never shows as overdue.
Can it remind me about rent every two weeks or quarterly bills?
Yes. A bill can repeat every week, every 2 weeks, every month, every 3 months, every year, or on a custom number of days.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. Subgrove is a web app you can add to the home screen on iPhone and Android, and it also runs on desktop. On iPhone, push alerts need it added to the home screen first. Email alerts work everywhere. Bills need an internet connection.
Can couples or housemates share bills?
Not yet. Bills belong to one account, and household sharing currently covers subscriptions only. You can send a bill card to WhatsApp with each person's share worked out, but it won't track who has paid.
Does it work in Australia, the UK, Canada and other countries?
Yes. There's no bank connection, so nothing depends on where you bank. Each bill can be in any of 38 currencies, and totals are shown per currency rather than converted.

Add your bills once, and let the alerts do the remembering

If it isn't for you, the 14-day money-back guarantee has you covered.
