Subscription Tracker App for Australia (2026)
App Comparisons · The Subgrove Team · · Updated · 4 min read
Short answer: the trackers Australians hear about most are built on US banking rails and won't accept an Australian bank, so the practical choice is a manual tracker that handles AUD and USD together. Rocket Money's help centre states it is "only available to users located within the United States and with U.S. based banks." Copilot Money's help centre says "we only support US financial institutions and as such are only available in the US App Store." If you bank with Commonwealth Bank, Westpac, NAB or ANZ, neither app gets past its first screen.
Why the Big-Name Trackers Stop at the Border
Every bank-linked tracker starts from the same move: connect your account, let a data aggregator read the transaction feed, and let software pick out the recurring charges. The aggregators behind the US apps reach American institutions only. There is no route into an ING Australia, Macquarie or Up account, and without that connection detection, cancellation help and bill negotiation all fall away.
Australia has its own open-banking framework, the Consumer Data Right, live for banking: apps built on it can read your accounts with consent. The US trackers weren't built for it. The local rails exist; the famous apps don't run on them.
AUD for Some Things, USD for the Rest
Netflix and Spotify usually bill Australians in AUD. Most SaaS products and nearly every AI tool bill in USD, and the card amount moves with the exchange rate each month.
Copilot's help centre is candid that "Copilot only supports USD and does not convert foreign currency transactions." A tracker that can't carry AUD and USD side by side, each with its own total, isn't answering the question you asked.
What to Look For
- Runs without a bank connection. That's why the US apps fail here. See tracking without bank linking.
- True multi-currency. Each subscription in the currency it actually bills, with a separate monthly total for each currency on the dashboard. See multi-currency subscription tracking.
- A reminder before the renewal date, at a lead time you set. Our renewal reminders on iPhone guide covers iOS.
- iPhone and Android in one household. See subscription tracker for iPhone and Android for why single-platform apps leave gaps.
- No country gate. If the app never asks where you bank, it can't refuse you for the answer.

Setting It Up in Subgrove
Subgrove is a manual tracker designed around that checklist. Enter each subscription with its price, currency, cycle and next renewal, and the dashboard turns the list into a monthly and yearly total.
- AUD and USD side by side. Stan in Australian dollars, a design tool in US dollars, each with its own honest total — something like A$42.10 + $19.99 a month.
- Push reminders at your lead time, from a fortnight out to the morning of the charge.
- One account on every screen. Installs from Safari or Chrome as a home-screen app, opens on a laptop, works offline.
- Your data stays yours. Export everything as a file whenever you like; see subscription tracker with CSV export.
The free subscription cost calculator shows the total in your browser with no account.
What It Won't Do
It won't discover subscriptions for you. A charge you've forgotten stays forgotten until you go looking. That's the trade for never handing over a bank login.
It won't cancel or negotiate. Subgrove warns you; you make the call. See cancelling any subscription.
It isn't a budgeting app. No net worth, no whole-account categories. It does one job.
Your bank's app lists direct debits from that account only. A second card, a partner's card, or an App Store charge never shows up there.
Getting Started
Start with an audit: finding forgotten subscriptions walks through statements, email receipts and the Apple and Google Play subscription pages. Then add each one in its billing currency and set a reminder.
Sign up from anywhere in Australia. The free plan covers five subscriptions. Upgrades bill in USD, so check your card's foreign-transaction fee.
Common Questions
Does Rocket Money work in Australia? No. It's "only available to users located within the United States and with U.S. based banks," according to its help centre. Full details in Rocket Money in Australia.
Does Monarch Money work in Australia? Monarch's site announces the US and Canada and makes no statement about Australia. We couldn't find any vendor claim either way.
Do I have to link my bank? No. Subgrove never asks for banking credentials; you type subscriptions in yourself.
Can I track AUD and USD together? Yes. Every subscription keeps its own currency and the dashboard shows a monthly and yearly total for each one, side by side. There's no live exchange-rate conversion, so the numbers never drift.
Is there an Android app? Yes, as a PWA. Install from Chrome on Android or Safari on iPhone; the same account works on desktop.
