What's New in Subgrove: September 2026
Guides · The Subgrove Team · · Updated · 4 min read
This month Subgrove shipped six features and one honest change to pricing. Renewal reminders are free for every account, and Pro is now the set of things that need a second person, a first charge to dodge, or a price to watch. Here's everything, in the order most people will notice it.
Household sharing (Pro)
The most-requested feature, and the one our own family tracker guide had been promising a little ahead of reality. Now it's real:
- Create a household from the dashboard menu and invite up to eight people by email. The invite link works for seven days.
- Invitees can stay on the free plan. One Pro account covers the family.
- Mark any subscription "Share with household". Every member sees it on their dashboard, gets the renewal reminder by push and email, and can edit it.
- Split between N people. Each person's dashboard shows their share, and that share is what counts in their monthly total.
- Shared subscriptions don't count against a member's free cap.
Private subscriptions stay private. How to divide the bill fairly is its own topic: how to split shared subscriptions.
Free-trial tracking (Pro)
Tick "This is a free trial", enter the date the trial ends — which is the first charge — and the post-trial price. The reminder reads "trial ends in N days" instead of "renews", fires at whatever lead time you choose up to 60 days ahead, and arrives as a push and an email. The weekly digest flags trials ending that week. Our free trial tracker roundup now describes it accurately.
Price-increase alerts (Pro) and a public price history
Two pieces. The public one is at subgrove.com/prices: a sourced, dated price history for nineteen popular services — Netflix, Spotify, Disney+, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and the rest — US pricing in USD, with a source link for every change and a "last checked" date. It's free and needs no account.
The Pro piece watches your list. When a service in that history raises its price and your entry is still at the old price, you get a push and an email within the following days, once per change. Every subscription also now keeps its own price history whenever you edit the amount, visible on the edit screen. Full explanation in the price increase tracker post.
Faster first entry (free)
Two out of five people who signed up never added a subscription. Two fixes:
- Quick-add chips on the empty dashboard: tap Netflix, Spotify, iCloud+ or any popular service and the form opens pre-filled with the usual price, category and colour. Edit the price to match your statement and save.
- Import from statement. Paste transactions from your banking app, CSV or PDF, and Subgrove finds the recurring charges, recognises common services, and shows a checklist to add in bulk. The matching runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded — only the subscriptions you tick are saved. The how and the edges are in finding subscriptions in your bank statement.
Weekly digest (free)
Every Monday, one email: what renews in the next seven days, each amount, and your tracked monthly total. Trials ending that week are flagged; shared subscriptions show who added them. One-click unsubscribe at the bottom, or toggle it from the account menu. Free accounts see a one-line note about Pro; that's the extent of the selling.
Share card (free)
"Share my stack" in the account menu renders an image — "I pay $1,240 a year for 14 subscriptions" with your top five by monthly cost — that you can share or download. Nothing leaves your device except the picture itself. Use it however you like; if it gets a conversation going about what a household actually pays, it's done its job.
The pricing change
Push and email renewal reminders were always delivered to free accounts. The pricing page said they were a Pro feature. That was wrong, and it's fixed: reminders are free for everyone, stated plainly.
The split now:
- Free — up to 5 subscriptions, push and email reminders, monthly and yearly totals, the renewals list and calendar, the weekly digest, offline use, quick-add and statement import.
- Pro ($1.99/month, $10/year, or $15 once) — unlimited subscriptions, household sharing, free-trial tracking, price-increase alerts, per-subscription price history, and CSV export.
CSV export moving to Pro is the one thing free users lose; the CSV export guide is updated. Everything else in this list is an addition. See pricing.
Currencies, and a default for the Gulf
Subgrove now offers 38 currencies, including AED, SAR, QAR, KWD, BHD, OMR, INR and EUR, and the subscription form defaults to the currency of your locale — AED in the UAE, SAR in Saudi Arabia, INR in India — instead of always starting at USD. Each subscription keeps its own currency and the dashboard totals each currency separately, which is the point of multi-currency tracking when half your subscriptions bill in dollars. The country guides for the UAE and Saudi Arabia go into the AED-and-USD split.
What didn't change
Subgrove still never connects to your bank, still doesn't cancel or negotiate anything for you, and still needs you to type in what you pay for — with the statement import taking most of the typing out. It's a privacy-first tracker, and the new features are built the same way.
If you've got an account, everything above is live now. If you don't, sign up — free for five subscriptions, reminders included.
